If you were unable to join us in Seattle for our 2023 Summer Educational Event, then sadly you missed what delegates have fed back to us, as one of the best CFCA events they had been to!!

One of the highlights of the event, which was different from previous events CFCA held, was the topic of the opening workshop on Day One. We were joined by professionals from Bank of America, Capital One, American Express and PNC, who for two hours openly talked and collaborated with an audience of nearly 60 telecoms fraud and risk delegates, about how they can work together and partner to fight SMS and voice fraud across the two industries.

Fraudsters are increasingly impersonating financial institutions in text messages and through calls. Telcos and financial institutions need to establish ways to collaborate on these evolving trends to protect shared customers. Quite often the fraudsters are the same bad actors that target both services. The session covered the developing and progressing tactics used, and strategies were recommended together among the attendees.

Thank you to Jodie Ryan from YouMail who did an awesome job of moderating the panel. Jodie played a huge part in getting these panelists together, from what in reality are competitors, but they came together to proactively and openly work on tackling a continued problem for their businesses.

Now the fun stuff… On the second evening, we all jumped on a bus and were lucky enough to visit the T-Mobile Campus nearby in the Bellevue area of Seattle. With a pub being situated on this huge site, we all ate, drank, played games, and networked, getting to know each other a little bit better and continuing conversations already started, recapping topics presented and sharing a few tales and experiences in telecoms fraud. Work talk always seems to slip into many conversations but relationships are built on these evenings at our Educational Events throughout the year.
