By Stacy Graham, President, CFCA
Every day we work to protect consumers, investigate fraud, solve complex problems, and support our organizations. We juggle deadlines, travel, long meetings, and the ever-changing challenges that come with our profession. We’re used to putting others first. Somewhere along the way, many of us become experts at taking care of everyone else while putting ourselves at the bottom of the list.
As we recognize Men’s Health Awareness Month, I think it’s an important reminder – not just for the men in our industry, but for all of us – to pause and ask a simple question:
When was the last time you made your own health a priority?
Health is more than a doctor’s appointment or a trip to the gym. It’s our physical health, our mental well-being, our emotional resilience, and making time to recharge before we find ourselves running on empty. It’s easy to convince ourselves that we’ll schedule the checkup next month. We’ll start exercising after the next conference. We’ll get more sleep once this project is over. The truth is, there will always be another project, another meeting, another flight, another deadline. What we don’t get back is the time we lose by putting our health last.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about the CFCA is that we’re more than professionals working in the same industry – we’re a community. We’ve built friendships that span companies, competitors, countries, and careers. We celebrate milestones together, collaborate through challenges, and support one another when life takes an unexpected turn. Recently, one of our longtime CFCA family members has been facing a personal health challenge. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do isn’t solve a fraud case or launch a new initiative. Sometimes it’s simply showing up for one another.
This month, I encourage you to make yourself a priority.
Schedule the appointment you’ve been putting off.
Take the walk.
Go to the gym.
Take a mental health day.
Call a friend.
Spend time with your family.
Whatever “taking care of yourself” looks like, don’t wait for the perfect time.
Because the people who count on you – at work, at home, and throughout this community – need you at your best.
Thank you for helping make the CFCA an organization known not only for the work we do, but for the way we care for one another. Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. That’s what family does!
Supporting a Fellow CFCA Member
CFCA, along with TUFF and other industry colleagues, is helping coordinate support for longtime CFCA member Boyd Jackson, AT&T. Boyd has recently been faced with a health challenge – he remains in good spirits but has a long way to go! Greg Olsen, formerly AT&T, recently visited Boyd and identified he has a need for a larger screen TV due to some vision impairment as a result of his health battle. Greg is going to buy a large screen TV and set it up for Boyd this weekend. If you would like to make a donation or send a message of encouragement to Boyd and his family, please visit the link below.
Every contribution, kind message, and thoughtful gesture is greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting a member of our CFCA family.
Leave a supporting message below, Boyd would appreciate them!
