Open Session - Catching Phish with Safe Browsing -
Presenter Mike Castner, Google
In this discussion we’ll review current threats on the Web that affect end-users, like phishing, malware, and deceptive software/content. We will then share Google’s efforts to protect end users from these threats, focusing on Google’s Safe Browsing efforts in the web phishing space. Google Safe Browsing was launched over 10 years ago as a modest anti-phishing effort, and today helps protect over two billion devices every day. We will give an overview of our systems, which detect dangerous software and social engineering content and also warn users attempting to navigate to dangerous sites or download harmful files. We will also review the capabilities of Safe Browsing API, which enables not just Google products but other ecosystem participants -- like browsers, websites, and mobile apps -- to provide anti-phishing protections to their end-users. Mike will also discuss opportunities for other anti-phishing and anti-malware programs to collaborate with Google on these efforts, via the Safe Browsing API.
Time: 11:30 AM Eastern. This open session has been scheduled for one hour.
